Haredi Students To Get Tablet Computers, Mobile Devices

For the first time, haredi students will reportedly study using personal computers, tablets and other mobile devices.
Two haredi school networks, Ma'ayan HaChinuch HaTorani and the Shuvo, have agreed to join the technology program, which is sponsored by Israel?s Ministry of Education, Ynet reports.
The program, however, will be specially modified for the haredi students. Websites haredi rabbis object to will be blocked, and other changes will be made.
Animated characters that are considered to be immodestly dressed? by haredi leaders will be replaced or removed. Other animated characters will be redrawn to conform with the haredi dress code ? including adding a yarmulke to the male characters and replacing shorts or pants worn by some female characters with a dress.
Evolution and related subjects will be stripped from the electronic curriculum, as well. So will subjects that call into question haredi norms of marriage and family life, among other changes.
Computers, the Internet and especially mobile computing devices and smart phones have until now been considered to be ?abominations? by haredi leaders.
About 200 haredi schools will now participate in the program.
